仕事内容
Introduces new products and follows through on developmental engineering from concept to full production. Develop/improve or create new designs for automotive stamping business needs by performing the following duties.
- Works with the Engineering Manager to direct tooling and modify equipment and/or machines of varying types (some of a very complex nature) for use in the manufacture of company products.
- Re-designs, repairs, or replaces in-process production program equipment.
- Assists Engineering Manager to develop processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new programs; supervises their assembly and set-up.
- Sets up new equipment for die trials, ensures its satisfactory operation, and instructs others to use the new equipment properly.
- Assists in writing procedures for the operation of new or existing equipment.
- Conducts experiments and tests on existing designs and equipment to obtain data on function of and performance
of equipment.
- Reviews plans for new products and factors such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection
recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives.
- Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the product
line.
- Determines and reviews all manufacturing processes for cost effectiveness and feasibility, both before and after
engineering releases to manufacturing.
- Determines priorities with the Engineering Manager and implements cost-reduction projects; maintains detailed
documentation as required.
- With the help of the Engineering Manager (Die Maintenance), works on the construction of all in –house tooling;
assures accuracy and timeliness of all projects.
- Conducts plant layouts, coordinates outside contractors, and supervises all necessary construction of plant
expansions or alterations.
- Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles, machining practices, the properties of metals, concerning
modern fabrication and assembly techniques, machine-shop practices and the application of mathematics and
dimensions to production machinery and tooling.
- Able to mentally visualize and comprehend all aspects of a manufacturing equipment or tooling problem,
understand the interrelationships of factors affecting a given situation, and be attentive to detail.
- Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production
problems in a timely manner.
- Monitors projects and ensures that timetables are met.
- Advises management of delays, problems, or changes.
- Analyzes equipment used and plant layout to determine if facilities are being used to best advantages.

- Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or Tecnical High School with 10-12 yrs working exp., in the Stamping Die Field
- Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in the manufacturing/industrial field (automotive preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of automotive metal stamping and die manufacturing within the customs of the Japanese business culture is necessary.
- Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria or a related field, or a commensurate level of related experience.
- Must be able to understand technical terms used in meetings with customers regarding claim of the product or design change feasibility and to make accurate and appropriate comments or suggestions to the customer by using the knowledge of the process of the company’s production processes, stamping processes and metal forming dies.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the Japanese language often since most of our customers are Japanese companies.
- Must understand specifications, concept of new machines/dies and process design written in Japanese and write, read, and speak Japanese since all of our stamping die sources are Japanese companies.
- Must be able to understand specifications, concept of the equipment and process design written in Japanese and write, read, and speak Japanese since more than 90% of our equipment is made in Japan and will be purchased from Japanese suppliers in the future.
- There are many occasions to obtain the trouble shooting method for metal stamping parts to the Forming Engineering Center in the R&D division of Engineering in Japan.
- Must be able to describe and explain the trouble to the Forming Engineering staff in Japanese and understand the suggested method and explain the method to the maintenance staff.
- Must understand JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) to make a final decision on a new product, whether we acquire the new product or not.
- Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information and negotiate to management, public groups, employees, suppliers and customers.
- Capable of applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Skill to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Effective organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or word processing programs such as Word, strong drafting/CAD skills, and the ability to learn new database systems or technologies.
